Abstract

Islamic teaching is based on the commands of Allah Almighty. Islam guides man to live according to the will of Allah in this world and to improve his eternal life hereafter. Islam teaches the highest lesson of humanity. Islam prefers humanity. Islamic teaching teaches a person to live with other human beings and to do well to others. Islam teaches the Islamic Empire to adhere strictly to the rights of its nation. Islamic education has also clearly stated the rights of the Muslim nation living in the Islamic state. Along with this, the rights of non-Muslim citizens living in the same state are also explained in great detail. Islam strongly urges the rulers of the Islamic government and the Muslim people to exercise the rights of minorities. There are different types of non-Muslims living in a Muslim state. The ransom that is taken from the minorities in return for their protection, submission to Islamic law and residence in the Islamic state is called Jizya in Islamic terminology. Nowadays slogans and processions are held about various rights. Some liberals give the impression that Islam does not give any rights to minorities. In this article, the rights of non-Muslim minorities are explained in the light of Islamic teachings. The deeds of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and his Companions (رضی اللہ عنہم اجمعین) are also mentioned.
