Abstract

The tribal lifestyle of Balochistan, particularly the practices of Watta Satta marriages and intra-community unions, holds profound social, cultural, and religious significance. This study aims to highlight the Islamic legitimacy and societal impacts of these traditions. Watta Satta marriages, often perceived as a means to strengthen ties between families or tribes, frequently affect individual rights and women's autonomy. Similarly, the practice of arranging marriages within the community, deemed essential for maintaining tribal unity, sometimes leads to social pressure and deviations from Islamic principles. This research examines the religious validity of these customs in the light of Quranic teachings and the Sunnah, seeking to determine whether they align with or diverge from Islamic precepts. Furthermore, it evaluates the positive and negative implications of these traditions within the tribal culture, shedding light on their social, moral, and religious dimensions. This study serves as a guide for fostering reforms in tribal practices, aiming to align cultural behaviors with the principles of Islam.
