The Ideological and Moral State of Pakistani Feminist Movement and its Challenges

This study focused on the ideological and moral state of the contemporary feminist movement in Pakistan and its challenges. The study explored how feminist thinking has been in endeavor to confront the problem of characters in relation to ideological and moral identities. The vexing relationship between feminism and religion is perhaps most manifest in discussions of Islam. This study also tracks some tensions that define the growing challenges between feminist movements in Pakistan and its ideological and moral state. Contemporary Pakistani feminist movements argued that there are limitations to ideology and morality considered as a manifestation of Muslim women’s subordination and subjectivities. This study uses analytical descriptive method. Qualitative data was collected and analysed based on scholarly literature and reports to explore the ideological and moral state of feminist movement in Pakistan and its challenges. The finding indicated that Islam (shariah) has been misused as a tool for gaining interest, Islam based patriarchy, Islamic nationalism, confusion between Islam and culture, Islam and women sexuality as well as immoral feminist slogans posed significant challenges for these movements.
