This research study presents a jurisprudential and legal analysis of animals and marine creatures in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith. The clarification of what is halal (permissible) and haram (forbidden) in Islamic law affects every aspect of human life, with food being of particular importance. The primary objective of this paper is to detail the Islamic legal rulings concerning animals mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith, particularly focusing on marine creatures and various types of fish. The study examines the perspectives of different schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) to clarify the differences and common principles found among them. It also includes interpretive exegeses of the verses of the Qur’an and the hadiths related to animals and marine life, to highlight their significance in Islamic society. The research findings make it clear that in Islam, the concepts of halal and haram are based on wisdom, nature, and the physical and spiritual purification of humans. These principles apply to marine life in the same way they do to terrestrial creatures. This study plays a significant role in the academic and jurisprudential research on this topic.
